Our Website
You will learn how a group of men and women, from the United States and Canada, are building the world's fastest automobile. Our goal is to break the current world land speed record of 763 MPH (341.09 m/s), set on October 15, 1997. In October of 1997 RAF Pilot Andy Green drove the Thrust SSC to a new world record of 763 MPH (Mach 1.02). For over 25 years now the British have held the record. We feel it's time to bring the record back to North America, but it will take a team effort and a major/primary sponsorship to make it happen. With regular updates you can watch and read how the team is converting the former USAF Lockheed F-104 jet fighter into one of the most sophisticated vehicles on earth. You will learn:
- The unique history of this former aircraft and see how it played a small part in the US Space Program.
- About a 42,500 HP (31,692,245.75 joules/s) jet engine with afterburner used to accelerate the car to speeds around 800 MPH (357.63 m/s).
- The revolutionary technology used to assist in bringing the car to a safe stop from high speeds.
- About the special people on the team that share a common dream - to build the world's fastest car and reclaim the world land speed record.
