About Us Home of the Land Speed Record Challenger

North American Eagle

image

Welcome to the home of the North American Eagle. Our mission is to bring the world land speed record back to North America. With an all volunteer team of engineers, technicians, mechanics and computer geeks, we have a vehicle built to safely break the 763 mph world land speed record set on October 15, 1997 by the British.

To date we have made 34 test runs on ten different occasions. This year of 2013 will see the NAE move into the high speed phase of the project, that will validate our computational fluid dynamic analysis. Our first objective is to break the world female land speed record set by Kitty O'Neil in 1976 at 512 MPH. In 2014, we will be ready to set the new record.W

The major task today centered on unloading the Eagle from the trailer and getting her back into place in our Spanaway hangar.

The recent load and unload operations for our engine test confirmed the need for additional modification to the loading ramp stand.  Loading operations on uneven ground surfaces require more clearance for the Eagle's mid wheels as they traverse over the ramp stand. That will be completed soon.

The new rear axle assembly constructed by Steve Green of Eagle Machine Inc. has been hauled down from Canada and is now undergoing some further refinements and painting.  Ground support equipment was disassembled and hoisted back into its storage space in the now empty trailer.

Bill and Sean traced down a problem with the fuel delivery system and spent a good deal of time adjusting the linkage in each throttle position to assure optimum fuel flow. Dave and Ed tested circuitry on a spare power inverter.
