January 30, 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen:

A very busy work party took place today as a large assembly of North American Eagle™ Team members showed up to remove the S&S Turbine Services prepared LM-1500 engine from the 56 foot long Eagle.

This weekend's work party consisted of Chris Greene, Austin Walrath, Von Armstrong, Steve Wallace, John Winchester, Larry Martinson, Levi Swet, Eric Helpenstell, Bill Eckberg, Corey Dawson, Dave Selby, Sam Yellowbird, Jon Higley, Omar Chramosta, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle.

The first order of business was to remove the aft tail section of the car. While this was happening Dave and Corey disconnected all of the cannon plugs, hydraulic and fuel lines from the engine so it could be removed. Using the McVay Welding engine removal gantry, the entire team slowly removed the engine onto the mobile engine cart.

It has been over three test sessions since the engine had been removed, so you can imagine all the El Mirage and Black Rock Dust that had accumulated! We then moved the engine out of the hanger and Corey proceeded to high pressure wash the engine.

Meanwhile Von Armstrong fired up the barbeque and proceeded to cook up some Elk Hamburgers supplied by Larry from last year's hunting season. Everyone enjoyed the delicious burgers with all the condiments.
